Ideas of Patreon

For those of the unaware, Patreon is the website where people can support others through monthly contributions. They can also donate through each production, but monthly sounds easier for all of us.

The donation rates will start pretty simple. If you want more stuff, then more money needs to be tossed in. That easy.

First rank will deal with future side videos. In short, you would get them much sooner than anyone else simply by donating. What will be these side videos? I'll tell you, of course...in the future.

Next up would be some early content, usually behind the scene stuff that will let you know what to expect with each new review. Could be a line from the script. Could be a recorded pic from the review itself. Who can say except me? Previous rank benefits are included as well

Next is your name at the end of the credits for each video. How about that. Still getting the rewards from the previous rankings.

Onto the next rank, which actually deals with the first rank: a riffing series! For the unaware, I will look at a short animated video (usual public domain) and give out some interesting commentary on the piece. Those who pay in this rank get to choose what I riff! They still have the benefits of the previous ranking too.

The final rank will allow the person to pick out a piece of future reviewing material. Is it a movie? A show? As long as it is animated (and I get last say in it), I'll review for you in a future episode. They'll still get the benefits of the previous three rankings, so don't worry there.

One last feature about Patreon that needs to be addressed: milestone goals.

As more people donate, I'll be able to do more stuff for the show. Better equipment, better content, more side series: there are just a few ideas I have for what I can do in return for everyone else.

Anyway, I won't start up the Patreon for awhile (at least until the start of the 2015), so that way I actually start to generate some followers. Plus, it helps to see a nice amount of product before you invest, right?

That's about it for now. Be sure to look out for my first video next week, at the start of October and the season of Halloween.

Progress, Ho!

Yes, there is actually progress on this. Positive.

Been preparing some materials, both hardware and software, for production. Already got the first few videos planned out, covering the month of October.

(All Halloween-inspired, of course)

Planning for December videos has also started of sorts.

(Also all Christmas inspired, unless there are some Hanukkah or Kwanzaa ones out there I haven't heard about).

November is kind of up in the air, since there isn't that many movies or shows revolved around Thanksgiving.

(There are a few I do know, but I don't want to do them all at once).

Production stuff is being delivered and should be in good condition.

Yay for online sales!

Hopefully, the actually production of videos will start next week, by that point I'll have a post up detailing my ideas and hopes using Patreon.

Short for this week, but I'm hoping for the long run.

Fears of the Future

It is something to expect when trying to make your own online series nowadays. Chances are that it will take a long while before the enough views and revenue come in to fully dedicate to the videos.

As for myself, my luck in finding a paying job over the last few months has been terrible. I've got a finite amount of money I can throw into this, so quality isn't exactly the main priority at the moment. Making sure to deliver the videos each and every week is, however.

Of course, finding the right kind of equipment takes a lot of time, money and practice.

Compatibility with software and hardware is key here. Some technology just won't work with some others, so that just adds to trouble.

Worst case scenario, until I find the right stuff, I may resort to text blogs. On the bright side for you, that means that they will appear more frequently than the videos. It also allows me to review individual episodes rather than just an entire season or series in one go.

Once I do get the proper equipment for the video series, I'll most likely return to the written blog posts in the videos.

Mostly because I've got quite a bit of visual humor to in storage to use.

Anyway, expect another update next week on what else to expect.

Hopefully, some good news.

Blog Address

This is 'The Space between Time', a little corner of the massive construct that is the Internet.

In here, I hope to take my first steps into becoming an online entertainment provider. I'll be starting out small with an online review series, including some video. The starting subject: ANIMATION.

I get some people are going to say, "But aren't there already plenty of anime reviewers?" Sort of. I'm not going to be focusing on animated productions of Asia. Really, my focus will be on animated production here in the West. There have been plenty of anime reviewers out there, so treading that ground again is rather pointless at the moment. Western animations both in the Americas and in Europe, are rather untapped at the moment and only glanced at a few t

So, please let my clarify with a couple of points:

  • A Focus on Western Animation
Even if the production of the animation itself takes place outside of a western country, I'll still be reviewing them since they are still considered 'Western Animation'. Example: the well-beloved "Batman: The Animated Series" had assistance from Japanese animated studios such as TMS Entertainment and Akom Productions during its show runs. I'll be sure to mention them during my reviews, of course.

  • Original VS Dubbing
This is not something limited to Anime as well. Many foreign movies and shows from Europe and South America. It will mostly be subjective, depending on which shows were mainly shown in their home countries and which ones were brought over to the English-speaking crowd. While it won't happen often, I can watch a production in its original state. Subtitles can help, though if it is good enough in its animation, then I should be able to figure out what is going on though visuals alone.

  • So Many Styles

I won't be focusing on just hand-drawn animation for the series. CGI or stop motion, if it is considered western animation, then chances are I'll review it. Which brings me to...

  • Video Games Too?

I'm not talking about 'Let's Players' here (though that wouldn't be such a bad idea in the future). The focus will be on more on the Western division of video games, rather than ones made by Nintendo or Square Enix. Those companies are great too, but they won't be that big of a part of this series. For awhile, at least, not even the video games will take part. Just need to wait.

  • Education through Entertainment
This is, ultimately, what I would like to give out through this series. Something that can entertain people as well as education on different series, shows and movies out there through one of my favorite mediums.

Come back next week when I'll discuss why I would take such a step into this life, as well as some of my personal fears in what could happen.

Anyway, thanks for reading. Hope for you to tune in next time. :)
